Hamilton Track & Field Shines at Hoosier Plains Conference Meet

May 19th 2025 The Hamilton Marines competed with pride and determination at the Hoosier Plains Conference Meet held this past Saturday at Bethany Christian. Facing tough competition, both the boys and girls teams delivered strong performances, with several athletes earning top-five finishes and valuable team points. Boys Recap – 3rd Place Finish The Hamilton boys team secured a 3rd place finish overall with 69 points, behind champions Elkhart Christian (152) and host Bethany Christian (96). Standout performances included: Jagger Hurraw had a breakout day, capturing 1st place in the long jump with a leap of 19-01, earning All-Conference honors and setting a new personal record. He also took 2nd in the 300 hurdles (46.12) and placed 4th in the high jump (5-02). Robert Schiek ran two gutsy races, taking 2nd in the 3200 (11:27.99) and 5th in the 1600 (5:12.41). Harrison Richter delivered in the field events, placing 2nd in discus (114-02) and 4th in the shot put (35-05). Caleb McMullen ran a strong race in the 110 hurdles, placing 4th (19.54). Josh Sprague (5th in the 100 – 12.31) and Austyn Willibey (5th in the 200 – 25.13) added key sprint points. The relay teams also stepped up, with the 4x100 finishing 3rd (48.30), the 4x400 taking 4th (4:12.07), and the 4x800 earning 4th (10:00.23). Cooper Farnham contributed with a 4th place finish in the 3200 (11:42.47). Girls Recap – 6th Place Finish The Lady Marines finished 6th overall with 21 points, competing hard. Top performances included: Akira Geeraedts ran well in the sprints, finishing 5th in the 200 (29.30) and 3rd in the 400 (1:09.24). TeigAnn Freed leapt to a 4th place finish in the long jump with a mark of 12-10.75. Annalise Lingo had a strong day in the throws, placing 2nd in the discus with a toss of 84-07. Looking Ahead – Sectionals Week The postseason is now underway. The girls will compete in sectionals on Tuesday at Angola, while the boys will take the track on Thursday, also at Angola.
